Baked Feta – Greek Bouyiourdi
Bouyiourdi is the ultimate baked feta recipe, containing a block of your favourite Greek cheese with a tangy, herby tomato sauce.
Add it to a mezze board, or serve it in the middle of the table as a starter for everyone to tuck into with a hunk of ciabatta. Yamas!
Serves 4 | Time: 40 minutes | Difficulty: Easy
Ingredients
- 1 block of YAMAS! feta
- 3 large ripe tomatoes
- 1 garlic clove, crushed
- 1 large mild green chilli, sliced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 4 tbsp olive oil
- Toasted ciabatta to serve
Method
- Cut 3 slices from the centre of one tomato, set aside and then remove the seeds from the rest. Cut the two other tomatoes in half and deseed them.
- Heat the oven to 180°C.
- Grate the tomatoes into a bowl, discarding the skin, then mix in the garlic, oregano, chilli, olive oil and some seasoning.
- Spoon most of the mix into a baking dish that is slightly larger than the block of feta. Add the feta and spoon over the rest of the tomato mix before laying your 3 slices of tomato on top.
- Cover the dish and bake for 15 mins, then uncover and bake for a further 15 mins.
- Serve your new favourite baked feta recipe with toasted ciabatta.
